He Lifted Me To Olympics – Shadir Musa Pays Tribute To Zebra Mando

Uganda national boxing team captain Shadir Musa Bwogi has eulogised fallen Isaac ‘Zebra Mando’ Ssenyange.

Mando was murdered in cold blood by unknown gunmen on Tuesday night at his home in Bwaise, Kawempe.

Mando is a former Bombers Captain and by the time of his death, he was the National team manager and head of general duties at Uganda Boxing Federation.

“It’s too bad that we have lost one of the pillars in our Federation,” Bwogi told The-SportsNation.

“He has been a man of his word from day one, he always fought every one who was against the game of Boxing.

“He is one of the greatest coaches and team managers Uganda has ever hard.”

Bwogi says that Mando put a big stone on his journey to Tokyo Olympics after the skipper, in February 2020, beat Ghana’s Jesse Lartey in the welterweight box-off at the 2020 African Boxing Olympic Qualification Tournament that were held in Diamniadio, Senegal.

Bwogi reveals: “I remember him training me alone in the last camp where I qualified for Tokyo Olympics 2020. He did all it takes to see that I train hard and be in shape and increased my skills until I made it to the dream land and that all was his effort and time.

“May his soul rest in peace, always at heart forever.”

Mando will be laid to rest in Masulita on Thursday.
