*Zambia Vs Niger – 6pm

Zambia and Niger will get their Pre-Chan mini tournament underway on Saturday at the Ahamdaou Ahidjo stadium in Yaounde, Cameroon.

In the first game of the four-nation tournament that fine tunes the teams ahead of CHAN Finals, saw Uganda Cranes hold Cameroon’s Intermediate Lions to a one-all draw on Friday.

Zambia coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic included five players who were selected by fans in the team to Cameroon.

The players selected by fans are Power Dynamos’ Spencer Sautu, Zesco United’s Adrian Chama and Clement Mwape, Zanaco striker Roger Kola and Nkana’s Harrison Chisala.

“We had to include the fans favourites because this team is for the Zambian fans,” Micho defended the decision.

“We made our own assessment but we had to reward the fans as well. Chipolopolo should be the unifying factor for all the people of Zambia irrespective of their political ideologies.”

Micho, formerly at Uganda Cranes, however left out three players from the Pre-Chan squad due to their CAF Interclub engagements.

The players are Amity Shamende (Green Eagles) whose side face Cotonsport in CAF Confederation Cup, Luka Banda (NAPSA Stars) has Confederation Cup tie with Mozambique’s UD Songo and Harrison Chisala (Nkana) has a CAF Champions League game against Petro Atletico.

The trio is expected to join Zambia later for the CHAN finals.

The Chipolopolo are pooled in Group D against Tanzania, Namibia and Guinea.

For Niger, the side eliminated Ivory Coast to qualify for CHAN for the third time.

They finished at the Quarterfinals on first attempt in 2011 but failed to get out of the group stages in 2016 and will seek to make a mark in Cameroon.

They are in group B that has DR Congo, Libya and Congo Brazzaville.

Niger has played a couple of friendlies including Mali (1-1) and Morocco (0-2).

Coach Harouna Doula will use the Pre-Chan tourney to gauge his squad ahead of the finals.
