Iguma Aware Of Task Ahead Of AS Kigali Tie

KCCA FC defender Denis Iguma says that is aware of the task ahead as his side prepare to face AS Kigali in CAF Confederation Cup.

KCCA FC trail 2-0 after losing the first leg in Kigali by forfeiture when they failed to raise the required number of players for the game due to Covid19.

Consequently, they have to dig deep in the return leg of they are to reach the Play-off round.

The first round tie is on Wednesday 6, at St Marys Stadium Kitende.

“We know we have a very big task now because we are already down 2-0 and we need goal aggregates,” Iguma said.

“But without pressure, we can overcome this. In the camp, the players are not thinking about the 2-0, they know what we want, they know what we have in front and I know we can overcome this when we work together as a team.”

The experienced defender joined the ‘Kasasiro Boys’ in July last year after ending his spell at Kazma FC where he had sustained an injury setback in March 2019 that had kept him out since then.

KCCA FC will need at least a 3-0 win to reach the next round but a 2-0 victory will send the game to extra-time or penalties.

In all, KCCA FC will not want to concede a goal at any stage in the game.

“The mood is okay, the players are in shape, I can see all players are really ready for the game and I think they don’t have any pressure but they know what we are having on Wednesday and they are ready to give 100%.

“We need to overcome this and the coaches too are not putting us on pressure, they are just encouraging us to play football, so we are very ready 100%.”

Iguma also commended the Youngsters Joseph Bukenya Kizza and Joseph Kafumbe who recently won the Cecafa U20 with Uganda Hippos.

Iguma says that these youngsters have a big opportunity to shine at the club.

“I believe players like Kizza and Kafumbe can play good football at this club, I have trust them because I have seen them play. They are mature enough and they know how to control their game.

“They have gained a lot of experience, they are from U20 where they won CECAFA, and they still have that winning mentality. They want to win and I always tell them to continue believe in themselves.”
