LUGOGO – UPDF FC head coach Kefa Kisala was on Tuesday, January 05 crowned the Uganda Premier League coach of the month of December.
Kisala beat off stiff competition from URA FC tactician Sam Simbwa, to take home the award.
To win the awards, Kisala guided newly promoted UPDF to four victories in their opening five games of the season.
The Army side defeated Busoga United, Kitara FC, BUL FC and Police FC. The other game saw them lose to Kyetume FC on match-day four.
Speaking the awarding ceremony held at Kati Kati Restaurant in Lugogo, Kisala lauded his team and UPL.
“I am honoured and privileged to win this award, said Kisala.
“It is always motivating to know that someone out there recognizes the effort you put into the game.
“However, i would like to thank my team for making this possible because without them, this would not be possible. The players, my coaching staff and UPDF FC have all played a big part in ensuring we get off to a good start.
UPDF have indeed started well and currently sit top of the UPL log with 12 points, in what is their first season back in the top flight.
At the same event, KCCA FC striker Brian Aheebwa was crowned the UPL player of the month of December.
Aheebwa who has scored 7 goals and assisted two more, in his first five games as a KCCA FC player was voted ahead of UPDF’s Brian Kalumba and Ben Ocen of Police FC.
Both the winners of player and coach of the month walked away with a cash prize of One Million Shillings(Shs 1m) and an award.
The awards are held at the start of every month.
