Pre-CHAN: Hosts Cameroon Suffer Niger Loss

Monday, January 4
*Zambia 0-2 Uganda
*Cameroon 1-2 Niger

Hosts Cameroon suffered a frustrating loss to Niger in a Pre-Chan tournament game in Yaounde.

Jacques Zoua scored a consolation for the Intermediate Lions from point black range after Niger had gone two up.

Mousa Adamou put Niger in the lead in the fifth minute before Ibrahim Issa Djibrilla doubled the advantage from the spot inside the first half.

The result, that comes after Cameroon’s 1-1 draw with Uganda, reveals more work for coach Martin Ndtoungou Mpile ahead of CHAN Finals.

Cameroon will face Zambia in their last game on Thursday.

They are pooled in Group A alongside Mali, Burkina Faso and Zimbabwe and may suffer another frustrating campaign after failing to come out of the group in last edition (2018) in Morocco.

Niger on the other hand, drew Zambia 3-3 and will face Uganda Cranes in a winner takes it all on Thursday.

This, is third time Niger are making the finals of CHAN and are in Group B alongside Libya, DR Congo and Congo.
