Ikong Returns As Silverbacks Intensify Preparations

Joseph Ikong returned to training as Silverbacks continued with the preparations for the second window of the 2021 FIBA Afrobasket Qualifiers.

Ikong missed the first sessions as the team started training on January 4 at Africa Bible University in Lubowa.

The Small forward returned this week after burial of his Aunt.

The new City Oilers signing was part of the Silverbacks team that played in the first window but never played a single minute after picking an injury in training, just like Emmanuel Mugenga.

Shooting guard Tonny Drilleba is the other player who missed the opening sessions.

The team is training for four days a week – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

The second window will be played in February 19-21 at a yet to be confirmed venue.

If Uganda finish inside the top three in a four-team group, they will qualify to Afrobasket for the third straight edition.

The Afrobasket will be held in Kigali Arena, from August 24 to September 5, 2021.
