Masaza Cup: Mawokota Overcome Bugerere To Go Top

Mawokota beat Bugerere to win their second game and go top of Masengere group in Masaza Cup at FUFA Technical centre in Njeru.

Isaac Ofoyrwoth and Livingston Jurua were on target for Mawokota.

Mawokota have now earned maximum points from their two games played, having beaten Kooki on Thursday.

Bugerere dominated the first minutes of the game with Mawokota comfortably waiting on the break.

Mawokota’s Fazil Tumwine missed a one on one with Bugerere’s goalkeeper with his effort being saved in the 7th minute.

In the 18th minute, Mawokota got their goal through Ofoyrwoth with his shot being deflected by Ngalo Fredrick to find the back of the net.

Fazil Tumwine could have doubled the lead for Mawokota before end of halftime but his penalty was saved by goalkeeper Otim Arafat.

In second half, Fazil Tumwine missed plenty of chances to make it two for Mawokota.

Second half substitute and the youngest player in the tournament, Elvis Ssekajugo seemed to be a threat to Bugerere’s defence throughout the game.

In the 66 minute, Kiberu Tonny missed a free header that could see Bugerere get their equaliser.

In the closing minutes of the game, Jurua Livingstone another second half substitute, sealed the win with the second goal for Mawokota.

As it stands, Mawokota have a step ahead of qualifying to the quarter finals having collected six points.

Mawokota’s last game will be up against Kyadondo on Monday at 3pm.
