Byekwaso summons UK based duo for U20 AFCON duty

The Uganda U20 football national team head coach Morley Byekwaso has named a 38-man squad for the upcoming AFCON U20 Championship.

The Hippos will be among the teams competing at the tournament which will be hosted between 14th February and 6th March, 2021 in Mauritania.

Among the players summoned is UK based duo of Samuel Kitaka and Nathan Odokonyero.

Kitaka currently plays at University side Loughborough while Odokonyero features for Lincoln City.

The Majority of the squad was part of the Hippos team that triumphed at the 2020 CECAFA tournament in Tanzania.

Aziz Kayondo and Bobosi Byaruhanga, who are currently with the Cranes team at the 2020 CHAN tournament in Cameroon, have also been included in the squad.

The players are expected to report to camp at Paradise Hotel in Kisasi on Wednesday so as to kick off preparations which start with training on Thursday evening at the MTN Omondi stadium in Lugogo.

For Byaruhanga and Kayondo, they will report to camp after Uganda exits the CHAN tournament.

Uganda qualified for the U20 AFCON tournament after winning the Regional qualifiers in Tanzania this past December.
