Japoma Stadium, Douala
-Libya vs DR Congo @7pm
-Congo vs Niger @10pm

DR Congo can seal progression to the knockout stages of the 2020 CHAN tournament with victory over Libya on Thursday.

Having defeated Congo 1-0 in their opening game on Sunday, DRC will go through if they win on Thursday regardless of the result in the other game.

The Leopards are record two-time winners of the competition and know they are one of the hot favourites to win it again.

Against Congo, they hard to do it the hard way so as to secure victory, needing a Chico Kubanza second half strike to get the job done.

Libya will offer a different prospect in terms of opposition as they play a different style as compared to Congo.

However, the Mediterranean Knights will also be expected to sit back and try to frustrate DRC.

Libya drew 0-0 with Niger in their first game and know a decent result against DRC will put them in a very good position to qualify for the last 8.

Currently in their fourth appearance at the finals, Libya tends to perform well at the finals.

In their first three, they have reached the knockout stages twice, winning the 2014 edition in South Africa and finishing fourth in Morocco.

Libya needs to sort a poor past record against DRC having failed to win any of their last six matches against them, losing twice and drawing the other four.

All the two losses came in the two sides’ past meetings which were in World Cup qualification.

The other Group B game will see Congo taking on Niger at the same venue.

Just like Libya, these two side will be desperate to avoid defeat on Thursday, after failing to win on match-day one.

Congo lost to DR Congo while Niger drew 0-0 with Libya.
This will be the second meeting between the two sides since 2012.

In those past two games, Congo has won once with the other ending in a 2-2 draw.

The final group B game will take place on Monday, January 25 with Congo taking on Libya while Niger faces DR Congo.

Wednesday’s results

-Cameroon 1-1 Mali
-Burkina Faso 3-1 Zimbabwe

Friday’s fixtures

-Morocco vs Rwanda @7pm
-Uganda vs Togo @10pm
