Sudanese power-house El Merriekh have confirmed the signing of Uganda Cranes midfielder Saidi Kyeyune.
Kyeyune’s capture was announced on Sunday, January 31, joining the 21-time Sudanese champions from URA FC.
“Transfer Window Update | Ugandan International & URA Kampala’s Attacking Midfielder Saidi Kyeyune is officially red,” wrote El Merrikh.
Kyeyune is understood to have signed a one-year deal which will see him at the club until January 2022.
He was with the Uganda Cranes team that bowed out of the 2020 CHAN at the group stages after losing twice and drawing one of their three group C games.
For Kyeyune, he put on quit a show, netting twice including a goal of the tournament contender in the loss against Togo.
He leaves URA FC after 10 years of service and it is understood that the Tax Collectors will earn about $40,000 in exchange.
Kyeyune who scored 8 Uganda Premier league goals last season joins another Ugandan-Salim Jamal Magoola at El Merriekh.
He also becomes the third Ugandan to feature for the club after Mike Mutyaba also did so earlier.
El Merriekh becomes the 28-year old’s third club having also featured for Maroons FC at some point.
