It has been nearly a month and half with the Uganda Premier League (UPL) on a halt.
However, there will be a smile at the fans in Arua as their team Onduparaka FC bounces back in the action.
The caterpillars will host Busoga united at their Green Light Stadium in what will be their sixth UPL fixture, on Friday, February 12.
Before the break, the team collected eight points from five games and sit 7th on the log.
To many, it feels like their team has performed extremely well having lost almost half of their players to other clubs due limited finances.
Head coach Vialli Bainomugisha was tasked with ensuring he integrated several new players into the team, something he has proudly tried to execute.
“When i joined the club, I began with team rebuilding since most of the players had left. He continued.
“We recruited new players who had never played in the league, gave them a chance to play and slowly, they are adapting to the environment.”
Bainomugisha’s role has not been an easy one but he has done a decent job on a team that some tipped for the doom.
Ahead of the league’s resumption, the former Lweza FC tactician says his team is good to go.
“We are ready and all set for the league’s return.
“We have training regularly in order to regain the fitness, brought in new faces at the club and being at home (in our opening game) we expect to conquer the three points.
“There is pressure as you know football is always about results and pressure comes about automatically.
“I am working to see that I win my games regularly to put the team on high standards and make the fans happy.
Bainomugisha’s comments come just a day after Onduparaka renewed their sponsorship with telecommunications giants MTN until 2022.
It is a move that sees the two parties take their partnership into a fifth year having initially come together in 2016 following the Caterpillars’ promotion to the top flight.
The deal is one that has always excited the Onduparaka faithful and this time round, Bainomugisha is no exception.
Bainomugisha who took over at the Arua based side, last year, believes the sponsorship will help his technical team coordinate better with the players.
“First of all ,am very happy for this sponsorship. He stated
“As a technical team, we are so grateful to God because it is going to help us in coordinating our players as they will have their issues worked on and focus fully on the game for better results and good performances.
Last season, Onduparaka finished 8th on the log with 31points.
