Wakiso Giants FC confirms departure of Karim Ndugwa, four others

Wakiso Giants FC have confirmed the departure of five players in the just concluded January transfer window.

The Uganda Premier League side confirmed the exit of these players on Thursday, February 04 via a statement on their official website.

Former SC Villa, Lweza FC, Onduparaka FC and Mbarara City FC striker Karim Ndugwa headlines the list of departing players.

Ndugwa joined the Purple Sharks in 2018 and has been one of their first choice strikers ever since.

Last season, the lanky striker spent most of the time coming off the bench as he faced stiff competition for a starting place.

Ndugwa leaves the club having not played a single game this campaign. He is understood to have secured a move to Horseed FC of Somalia, earlier in the month.

The other big name that is departing Wakiso is former Onduparaka FC captain Gadafi Wahab.

Wahab joined Wakiso in 2019 but since then, he has somehow failed to tie down a starting slot in the team and it comes as no surprise that he is being let go of.

The others that have been axed include Osman Miraji, George William Katende and Ivan Ssebuguzi.

Wakiso have also made several acquisitions in the January window, bringing in five players.

Douglas Bamweyana’s side have signed Kipson Atuhaire from India, Ivan Bogere (on-loan) from Proline FC, Andrew Kalyango, Goerge Kaddu and Frank Ssebufu.

Wakiso Giants have endured a slow start to the 2020/21 UPL season and currently sit 10th on the log with five points from as many games.

The Purple Sharks are yet to win a single game having drawn all of those games including a 2-2 draw at home to Busoga United, last time out.
