Kigonya stars as Azam, Lwanga’s Simba share spoils

Goalkeeper Mathias Kigonya was the star of the show as Azam FC and Simba SC played out a 2-2 draw at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam in the Vodacome Tanzania premier League.

The former BrightStars shot stopper saved Clatous Chama’s penalty in the 36th minute after Cranes defender Nicholas Wadada brought down Jose Luis Miquissone in the area.

The visitors returned in the second half the better side and flipped the game on its head.

Idd Seleman netted the equaliser on 67 minutes before Ayoub Lyanga gave them a first lead eight minutes later.

13 minutes from time, Simba equalized through Jose Luis Miquissone to ensure the game ends 2-2.

Goalkeeper Mathias Kigonya and defender Nicholas Wadada all played 90minutes for Azam FC. Kigonya was making his Debut.

Midfieder Taddeo Lwanga was also handed his second league start for Simba having featured against Dodoma Jiji earlier in the week.

Azam are now third on the table with 33points from 18 league games played

Simba are second on the Tanzania Vodacom premier league on 39 points, with also a game in hand.

Azam FC play Coastal Union in their next encounter while Simba will be away from home to Democratic Republic of Congo’s AS Vita in the CAF Champions league
