Team news

•Police FC will welcome back several individuals from national team duty.
•Head coach Abdallah Mubiru, captain Tonny Mawejje, Ben Ocen and Hassan Muhammod were all with the Uganda Cranes team that took part in the 2020 CHAN tournament in Cameroon.
•However, Ocen is a major doubt for the game due to injury.
•Frank Tumwesigye, Muwadda Mawejje, Samuel Kayongo, Fahad Kizito are all out with injuries too.
•Derrick Kakooza is away with the U20 team which is currently in Mauritania so he is also unavailable.
•Kyetume will on the other hand be without head coach Livingstone Mbabazi who is on compassionate leave after he lost his mother leaving his assistant Baker Kasule in charge of the team.
•They will also miss Benson Tahomera and Nicholas Kasozi who have been suspended by the club over indiscipline issues.
•The pair of Nicholas Kasozi and Joel Mutakubwa are available after returning from the 2020 CHAN tournament with the Uganda Cranes.

Preview

Police FC will be hoping to move top of the Uganda Premier League when they host Kyetume FC at Lugogo on Friday afternoon.

The Cops start the day just two points off top spot and with the others above them playing on Saturday, a win will take them appoint clear at the to of the log.

After going unbeaten in their opening four games, Abdallah Mubiru’s side who sit 4th on the log lost to UPDF FC in their last game before the league break and know they must bounce back to stay in the top four spots.

Even without a host of players, Mubiru knows the team has to step up to avoid a two game losing streak.

“We know the challenge ahead of us, but we are prepared for it. Mubiru told the club’s website.

“It is unfortunate we have a couple of injuries, but we are in position to raise a team that we believe will compete.”

Police comes into the game averaging two goals per contest having netted an impressive 11 goals in their first five games.

For Kyetume, they are out to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

The Slaughters who currently sit in 7th have won two and drawn the other three of their first five games.

Kyetume are still unbeaten this season.

Having started the season with three successive draws, they went into the break off two consecutive victories and are hoping to give their all so as to take home all three points.

“We shall give 100 percent during the match against Police. Noted Baker Kasule ahead of the game.

“We need maximum points as we seek early advantage.”


The Stats

The two sides will be meeting for only their third time in the top flight.

Police have enjoyed two victories in the past two match-ups winning 1-0 twice.

The game between these two sides at Lugogo, last season, required a late Herman Wasswa penalty to hand Police all three points.
