Exclusive: Onduparaka, Vialli To Part Ways

Uganda Premier League side Onduparaka FC and head coach Vialli Bainomugisha are set to part ways, The-SportsNation has exclusively learnt.

The relationship between the two parties has deteriorated over non payments, a source at the club has revealed.

Bainomugisha remained in Kampala and has not returned to Arua since the club made back to back unveiling of MTN and AbaBet as sponsors a week ago.

Consequently, he was not on touchline as the Caterpillars were held to a one-all draw by Busoga United FC last Friday.

The club wired Shs 2m to his account as his sign-on fee balance, prior to the Busoga game in an attempt to convince him to travel back to Arua. However, the efforts proved fruitless.

He is not expected to be on the touchline once again when UPDF FC visits for a match-day 7 clash and assistant coach Abu Mubarak Wamboya is expected to continue as interim.

It is said that he demands salary arrears of about seven months since he was appointed to replace Livingston Mbabazi who left midway through last season.

A close source at the club has stated that “Bainomugisha will come back after a few issues have been sorted.”

Efforts to reach coach Vialli have been futile.

Onduparaka Ready To Move On?

A source has confirmed to The-SportsNation that the club has already approached one of the renown coaches and a deal has been tabled!

Onduparaka are trying to retain stability after a difficult season that was highlighted by a player exodus.

They also grappled with financial constraints last season and confirmed that they were approached with $10,000 to lose a league game against Tooro United, an offer they gladly turned down.

The Caterpillars received sh625m from AbaBet as their new sponsor, a company that took over naming rights for the Greenlight Stadium.

During the unveiling, Club head of Marketing Mercy Munduru stated that the money will help to sustain the club to sustain itself in top flight.

Prior to the Busoga United game last week, Onduparaka had eight points from five games including two away wins against Kitara FC and MYDA FC.

Their only dark spot under Bainomugisha, was the 8-0 away loss to KCCA FC.

He had earlier promised to rebuild the club to their lost glory, and some signings had been brought in but that looks like it will not be happening with his imminent departure.

Bainomugisha has previously had stints at Kigezi Homeboyz, Lweza, Water, Mbarara City, Koboko and Kisugu United among others.
