Mutebi lauds Express FC after draw at Wankulukuku

KCCA FC manager Mike Mutebi has sung praise for Express FC after the Red Eagles held his side to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday.

In the game played at Wankulukuku, Charles Lwanga struck late to cancel out Eric Kambale’s first half goal to ensure both side share spoils in the Uganda Premier League.

Speaking after the game, Mutebi appreciated Express’s efforts and mentality.

“Express played a good game. Mutebi stated.

“Yes some of their players are experienced compared to mine and they came in the game with an intention to win and you can see they attacked us and created chances.

“We are still careless you can see as some of my players are still young but that comes with experience and I believe the result was fair.”

KCCA registered their first point in four games and Mutebi thinks it is progress made.

“Yes there is progress but our problem is we don’t put our chances.

“There is a lot of panic with our forwards but i am not worried as we can work on that in training.

“The result was fair because both teams created chances and failed to put them away and with three minutes left, i think we were denied a penalty.”

Mutebi started with a mainly youthful team with some experienced players left on the bench, only to throw-on Juma Balinya late in the contest.

It is a move that he justified after the game.

“Those players you were expecting haven’t adopted to our style of play but they are slowly stepping up.

“You can see these young players are the ones dominating because they have grown in the system and we need players who fit in what we want.”

Striker Lwanga has now scored back to back goals having also netted the consolation in the defeat to BUL FC last week.

Mutebi says he is not thinking about starting him on the bench along with Aheebwa who has now gone two games minus scoring.

“When a forward scores I won’t drop him.

“Aheebwa misses many chances but that happens and I have to continue giving him chances as Ssenyonjo (Sam) returns .

“For the pressure that many claim, there is non at all for me. All we need to do is take our responsibility and win games.”

KCCA FC are now 8th on the Uganda premier league table with 10points after seven games played

The Kasasiro Boys play MYDA FC on Saturday at the MTN Omondi stadium in Lugogo.
