Ssenyondo Refutes Sacking Claims At Mbarara City

Mbarara City FC tactician Brian Ssenyondo says that he has not been sacked at the club, calling the claims untrue.

Reports have indicated that the club is set to hire a new head coach following Ssenyondo’s busy schedule with the National U17 team.

Mbarara City FC have registered poor results during Ssenyondo’s absence, with the gaffer in camp with the Uganda Cubs as they prepare to play at AFCON U17.

“I am with the national team and this team is flying out at any time,” Ssenyondo told The-SportsNation.

“Mbarara City sent the letter to Fufa asking me to be on touchline for the two games, but there is an upcoming trip before we leave for Morocco.

“But what I can tell you is that I have not been sacked, I read those reports in media just like you.

“I am committed here (Uganda Cubs) at the moment and I cannot comment further on anything until I return from Morocco.”

Arnold Elishe, the PR at Mbarara City FC, says that Ssenyondo had a meeting with the club chairman Mwine Mpaka to be on touchline for the two games against Wakiso Giants and Kitara FC.

Ssenyondo missed Mbarara City’s 1-0 loss to Wakiso Giants in Kakyeka but bounced back to help his side beat Kitara FC 1-0 in Kavumba.

“He was given a suspension letter after the Kitara game for missing the Wakiso game,” Elishe adds.

“He will have to first resolve issues with the club management. He has to choose between the club or country. He never came for the Wakiso game meaning that he absconded on duty.”

The Ankole Lions are 13th with six points after seven league games.

Ssenyondo is one of the most respected young coaches in the country having started at Ball Line Academy in Masaka before making a name while at Synergy FC.
