Team news

•Police FC will have pretty much the same side that defeated BUL FC on Tuesday.
•Frank Tumwesigye has recovered from injury and he is expected to face his former employers.
•Ben Ocen is a major doubt for the game due to injury and so is Samuel Kayongo who is also lacking match fitness.
•Fahad Kizito recovered from injury and came off the bench against BUL and is expected to be in contention once again.
•Derrick Kakooza is away with the U20 national team which is currently in Mauritania for the U20 AFCON so he is also unavailable.
•Milton Karisa is back in training having missed the past matches through a thigh problem he picked while on National duty with the Uganda Cranes in Cameroon but is not expected to feature for Vipers SC.
•Siraje Sentamu overcame a slight knock and is likely to be selected after missing the draw against Kyetume on Tuesday.
•Rashid Toha is out of the game after pulling a muscle against Kyetume therefore Livingstone Mulondo or Bashir Asiku will partner team skipper Halid Lwaliwa at centre-back.
•Muhammad Shaban came off the bench in the last game and will be pushing for a start as well as Dan Sserunkuma.

Preview

Vipers SC will be hoping to return to winning way after they were held to a 2-2 draw away to Kyetume FC in the last game.

The defending champions who started the day on top of the log slipped to second after match-day 7 and will know they will retain top spot with victory on Friday.

They have been outstanding at home so far, winning all their three games since the league started and scoring 10 goals whilst conceding just one.

Going into the game, their head coach Fred Kajoba is demanding hard work and responsibility from his players.

“We play a side that’s credible thus I demand hard work, responsibility and positivity from whoever will be put on the pitch on Friday.”

For Police, they are the surprise early pace setters of the division and will hope to maintain that come the final whistle.

They convincingly took care of BUL in their last game, their second victory on the trot since the league resumed.

The Cops are fancying their chances against the Venoms and their head coach Abdallah Mubiru is optimistic about getting a good result on Friday.

“Yes we are top of the table and we are looking forward to maintain the same spot.

“We are playing against the Champions who are a very good team, we know we can cause them issues so we are ready. It is a big game and we are looking forward to out competing them.”


The Stats

This will be the 22nd meeting between the two sides since October 2010.

In the previous 21 match-ups between the two sides, Vipers have won 12, Police 5 with the other four ending in draws.

Vipers are currently on a five-match winning streak against Police, scoring 11goals in the process and conceding just three.

The last time Police defeated Vipers was in October 2017 off a 2-1 home victory.

Police have not defeated Vipers since 2017.

Last season, the two sides met once with the game ending 3-1 for Vipers at Lugogo.
