Uganda Premier League
KCCA FC 5-0 MYDA FC
MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo
KCCA FC registered their first victory in five games as they demolished MYDA FC 5-0 on Saturday, February 20.
The Kasasiros whose last victory was in a 2-0 win at home to Mbarara City FC at the start of December, came into the game desperate for points and must be relieved they got the job done.
A brace each by Bright Anukani and Charles Lwanga coupled by Moses Aliro’s opener did the trick for Mike Mutebi’s side.
They started strongly and were rewarded with the opening goal as early as the 4th minute when Aliro lashed in from close range after meeting Lwanga’s cross.
From there on wards until the end of the first half, KCCA dominated possession but did close to nothing in terms of troubling the MYDA goalkeeper.
Lwanga had two chances to square the ball for his mates in the area but first, saw his effort blocked while the other sailed over everyone.
After the introduction of Kezironi Kizito for Juma Balinya at halftime, Mutebi’s side found the rhythm and tempo their were craving and started creating chances.
Eight minutes after the re-start, Lwanga raced onto a Hassan Musana pass before squaring for Anukani who side-footed the ball in off the left-hand post for the second goal.
KCCA kept asking the question and league top scorer Brain Aheebwa squandered three glorious chances to add onto his season’s tally.
The former Mbarara City striker brought down Musana’s cross but shot over. He then collected from Aliro but the result was the same before he lashed onto a through ball but his effort went straight at Andrew Ssekandi’s feet.
As fate would have it, the Kasasiros netted a third, three minutes after Aheebwa had been taken off and replaced by Samson Kigozi.
Achai made a brilliant run down the left and crossed for Lwanga to head home his first of the afternoon.
Moments later, Lwanga made it 4-0 off a brilliant curling effort after collecting from the energetic Musana.
In the last minute of the 90, KCCA were handed a penalty after Peter Musoke handled an Aliro cross, in the area. Anukani took responsibility and sent Ssekandi the wrong way to finish off proceedings.
Victory sees KCCA climb into 7th with 13 points from eight games while MYDA are still second from bottom with just a single point.
In their next fixtures, KCCA are away to Wakiso Giants FC on Tuesday while welcomes Express FC to Tororo on the same day.
