On-line betting giants Melbet Uganda has boosted Ugandans On Twitter (UOT) Soccer with Jerseys and other items worth UGX 7m.
The partnership between the two organisations was launched last week at Legends Grounds in Lugogo.
The event at Legends was flanked by MelbetUG staff who were led by their Head of Operations Yasin Asimwe.
Also in attendance was the media and the two captains of UOT Soccer teams which include Android and iPhone users.
UOT Soccer is an organisation that was founded by Ugandans on Twitter. The organisation holds a monthly football match between Android Users and iPhone Users on Twitter.
Melbet announced the package which will also feature goat roasting after the day’s main event.
What they said at the launch
Yasin Asimwe, Head of Operations at Melbet Uganda
“As Melbet, we are excited to be partnering with UOT Soccer.
“It is an organisation that we have looked deep into and we are sure it is something worth investing in as it promotes interaction among youth.
“It is the first time we are coming on board but I am certain it will not be the last.
“We urge everyone to come be part of the event on 28th but we should be careful so as not to go against the Standard operation procedures of the Ministry of Health.”
Eddy Ntege aka Edd Pages, Captain iPhone users
“It is a huge step in the right direction for us as UOT SOCCER.
“We started this event sometime back and this will be the second outing but is already promising to be much better.
“I would like to thank Melbet, on behalf of UOT Soccer, for picking interest and deciding to partner with us.
“I am also calling upon everyone who can, to please attend because it is some fun one would surely like to be part of.”
Gad Rogers, Android captain
“I am honoured to be here today as UOT Soccer reaches a new milestone.
“When this was started, it looked more like just a simple outing featuring a football match but having a company like Melbet come on board, it means a lot to everyone associated with UOT Soccer.
“I am hoping Melbet continues with us in future and also hope other companies come on board too.
“Just like the first outing, i expect lots of fun and interaction between the Ugandans on Twitter so i rally everyone to come and embrace this.”
This will be UOT Soccer’s second edition of the UOT Football match between Android and iPhone users on Twitter.
The first one was held in January with Android Users controversially edging it 3-2 before both teams went for a bonding session at the pool.
The game will take place at Buwate Grounds in Buwate on Sunday, February, 28.
