Uganda Premier League
Vipers SC 1-0 BUL FC
St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende
Yunus Ssentamu continued his fine run of form for Vipers SC as he netted the winning goal against BUL FC.
Ssentamu who came into the game having scored four goals in three games scored the winning goal with just six minutes of the 90 to play.
Substitute Paul Mucurezi who replaced Jamil Karisa at the break sent a delicious cross into the area for Ssentamu to net at the back post, much to the relief of Vipers fans as the game looked destined for a stalemate.
The assist was Mucurezi’s second successive on a winning goal after doing likewise for Ceaser Manzoki in the 3-2 victory at home to Police FC last Friday.
The win is Vipers sixth for the season and the fifth at home having also taken care of Kitara FC, MYDA FC, Police FC and UPDF FC at the same venue.
The result consolidates the Venoms’ lead atop the Uganda Premier League standings as they now move to 21 points from nine games. Fred Kajoba’s side is still two points ahead of second placed Express FC who also won on Tuesday.
For BUL, it is their third loss on the trot having also lost to Police and KCCA FC heading into Tuesday’s encounter.
The Jinja based side stays in 13th spot with just seven points from nine games.
