Salim, Kibirige Heroes As SC Villa Edge Kyetume In Eventful Affair

SC Villa finished it late against Kyetume FC in an eventful StarTimes Uganda Premier League game at FUFA Technical centre in Njeru.

Second half substitute Salim Abdallah scored the only goal to hand Alex Isabirye a false start at Kyetume.

Salim struck in the 69th minute when he curled in a beauty to hand the Jogoos a hard fought victory against the Slaughters.

SC Villa finished the game a man down after Asuman Alishe was sent off.

The Slaughters will rue missed chances including Cephas Kambugu’s missed penalty thanks to goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige’s outstanding save from the spot.

Kyetume were boosted by new coach Alex Isabirye and return of Goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa but all didn’t yield better results on the day.

The hosts enjoyed more possession but failed to break down a resolute SC Villa defence.

They came close to opening the scoresheet with Richard Matovu’s effort from the free kick off the target.

In the 42nd minute, Kyetume were awarded a penalty after Fred Agandu handled in the area.

From the spot, Kambugu’s penalty was denied by a well composed Kibirige who pushed the ball into the corner.

In the second stanza, substitutes Senoga and Salim Abdallah added more life to the Villa midfield as the record winners started to penetrate more into the final third.

In the 69th minute, Salim collected from a shot Derrick Ndahiro corner to curl home the day’s only goal.

SC Villa were later reduced to ten men when Captain Alishe was given his second yellow card.

In the 83rd minute, substitute Latif Kiyemba could have levelled matters but his shot from a freekick was kept out by Kibirige.

SC Villa move to 18 points and sit seventh on the table from as many games played.

What Nxt for both teams: SC Villa will host Police FC in their next fixture, While Kyetume play URA FC away from home at the Arena of Visions Ndejje in Bombo.
