Uganda U20 Men’s national team forward Richard Basangwa says the team is working hard and are ready for the finals.
The Hippos are set to play Ghana in the AFCON U20 finals to take place on Saturday, March 03 at the Stade Olimpique de Nouakchott in Mauritania.
To reach this stage, the Hippos eliminated Tunisia 4-1 in the Semis thanks to a Derrick Kakooza hat trick and Richard Basangwa’s opener.
Ahead of the Saturday’s Final game, Basangwa who has scored three goals in the competition so far says they are ready both physically and mentally.
“First of all i thank the heavenly Father for the victory he gave us against Tunisia. He said.
“As a team we are really prepared, we are working harder and we don’t have any injuries.
“The team is mentally, spiritually and physically fit which shows us we are capable of winning the trophy on Saturday.”
The Vipers SC forward who had a good game against Tunisia, also assisting Kakooza’s first goal, is thankful to God that he was able to score and assist.
“It was really a good game for most of us.
“As a player I want to thank God that I was able to score and also assist one goal which gives me more confidence not to rest.
“I am working hard for the final game on Saturday so that we can win the trophy.”
In the Finals, the Hippos will face a Ghana that eliminated Gambia in the other semi final.
This is Uganda’s debut appearance at the tournament.
