Familiar faces dominated as Sand Cranes head coach Salim Jamal Muwonge summoned a 20-man provisional squad to gear up preparations for their lurking Africa Cup of Nations qualifier exertions.
Uganda will hope to draw first blood when they host Ghana in the qualifier duel on 27th March 2021 at FUFA Technical Centre Njeru with the return leg dated between 9th-10th April.
Seasoned stalwarts in custodian Meddie Kibirige, Douglas Muganga, Sulieman Ochero, Barker Lukoya made the cut but defender Allan Katwe and forward Roach Samoka were notable absentees.
The 2020 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations tournament was initially meant to happen last year but was brought further to 2021 due to the outbreak of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.
The team will enter a residential camp on Monday, 8th March at the FUFA Technical Centre.
Notably, The Sand Cranes will appearing in the qualifiers for the third with their maiden one coming against Ghana in 2015 before facing Ivory Coast two years later.
