Preview: ‘Old Boys’ Return Home

Mbarara City FC will play host to Vipers SC in a StarTimes UPL TV game on Saturday at Kakyeka Stadium.

The defending champions visit Mbarara with two familiar faces – Paul Mucureezi and Ibrahim Orit who joined the Venoms from the home side.

There will be no room for errors as Vipers seek to return to the summit with a win.

The Venoms sit a place and a point below leaders Express who needed a Frank Kalanda penalty to overcome struggling Busoga United at Betway Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.

The Venoms are in fine form and recently beat Bright Stars 2-0 to record their fourth straight win as they remain unbeaten this term.

Their away form has seen them win at Busoga United and Onduparaka, and shared spoils thrice.

Mbarara City on the other hand, have a couple of missing players headlined by captain Hilary Mukundane.

They will continue to be without head coach Brian Ssenyondo who was suspended, and now in Morocco with Uganda Cubs at AFCON U17 championship.

The club has reportedly approached Livingston Mbabazi for an offer but Sadiq Ssempigi will remain on touchline for now.

Mbarara come into this fixture on the back of a 3-1 loss to Police, in a game they could have picked a point after going up first.

They return to Kakyeka where they beat Kyetume for their first win at home this season, and their second overall after they edges Kitara at Kavumba.

With 10 points after 11 games, Mbarara City sit 13th, just a place above the red zone and the club must start collecting points if they are to survive the drop this time.
