Rugby Premiership: Heathens Off To a Flyer, Betway Kobs Move Top

Heathens managed to start their title defence with a victory against Pirates as the Nile Special Stout Rugby League got underway after about a year-wait.

Heathens edged Pirates 24-19 in a pulsating affair that unfolded at Kyadondo Rugby ground.

Aaron Ofoyrwoth scored a brace, Aziz Khan and Paul Epillo added a try each while Joseph Oyet scored four points from his boot to hand Heathens the victory.

Solomon Okia, Ivan Magomu and Sunday Jaguar tries were not enough on the day for the Pirates.

In Bweyogerere, Pius Ogena bagged four tries to lift Betway Kobs past Rhinos at Kings Park in Bweyogerere.

James Odong, Brian Ochan, Brian Asaba, Karim Arinaitwe and Daudi Ssemwami scored a try each as well while James Ijongat made three conversions.

Kobs move top with five points, thanks to a bonus point, with a point above Buffaloes, Heathens and Mongers.

Mongers beat Impis thanks to Kennedy Muhumuza’s try, Stallone Arinaitwe’s conversion at Makerere.

In the first game at Kyadondo, Buffaloes were 15-03 winners against Rams thanks to a try each from Vincent Okello and Solomon Agani.
