Kagimu Inspires URA Past Police FC At Lugogo

URA FC Captain Shafiq Kagimu was in inspired form as his side beat Police FC 2-0 on Tuesday.

Kagimu scored one and assisted the other as the Tax Collectors continued to impress away from home this season.

He lashed onto a lose-ball in the area after Police failed to deal with a Brian Majwega corner to hand Sam Siimbwa’s side a first half lead.

After seeing an effort rattle the post, Kagimu threaded a through ball for Mukwala to slot past substitute Derrick Ochan for the second goal.

It was an inspired performance by the visitors who looked in control of the game for its entirety.

Police were denied what looked like a clear penalty after Hood Mulikyi handled off Henry Kiseka’s over head kick but both the second assistant and centre referee did not signal for any infringement.

That looked more like justice as a few minutes earlier, Tom Ikara bundled into Cromwel, inside the area, and the referee played on despite clear contact. Ikara would then be stretchered off, injured and replaced by Ochan.

Police who had won all their past five games at home, failed to create enough to get back into the game with their best chance of scoring coming through Johnson Odong who produced a great piece of improvisation to glance a Ruben Kimera cross onto the crossbar.

The result sees URA FC who have now won all their past six away games, climb top of the League with 30 points, two ahead of Express FC who lost to UPDF FC on the same day.

For Police, they drop to 5th with 24 points from 13 games.

In their next fixtures, Police are away to KCCA FC on Friday while URA hosts Vipers SC the following day.
