In what was arguably their poorest display, the Venoms could not create enough to see the score and it was a worrying sign.

However, they return to Kitende hoping for a reaction from the loss and must be confident as they have been unbeatable at their home patch.

Fred Kajoba’s side has won all six of their home games, scoring an impressive 14 goals whilst conceding just three in the process. Vipers are the only side with a 100% record at home and will feel confident going into the game on Wednesday.

With URA FC beating Police on Tuesday, the Venoms start the day in third spot as they now trail both the Tax Collectors and Express FC on points, three and one respectively.

The competition for top spot seems to be heating up with each passing game week and Kajoba’s side know they need a quick reaction to their first loss so as to return to the summit.

It will not be easy as they come up against a SC Villa side that is also eyeing to return winning ways after a disappointing 2-2 draw at home to Police FC last weekend.

The Jogoos have been fairly inconsistent since the league resumed as they have won three of their seven games since, drawing three and losing once.

That run of form has seen them drop into 8th spot on the standings but can climb as high as 6th with victory on Wednesday.

It will not be an easy fate taking care of the Venoms as Villa have won only once on their travels this campaign (D3 L2). The victory came in their last trip to Kyetume in a 0-1 result.

The Stats

This will be the 23rd meeting between the two sides since November 2010.

In the previous 22 meetings, Vipers have enjoyed the better record, winning 10 and losing just four times.

However, the Jogoos have had a better recent record as they are unbeaten in their last three games against the Venoms (W2 D1).

Both of those wins have come at Kitende including a 0-1 result last season.

Vipers last defeated Villa on the 5th of June 2018.
