Dikong, Omanye, Azolibe, Najja Join NBL Newbies

National Basketball League newcomers Namuwongo Blazers have strengthened their squad with four more new additions ahead of league tip off.

David ‘Dikong’ Deng, Chris Omanye, Francis Azolibe and Juuko ‘Najja’ Daniel.

Small forward Dikong joins after ending his stint with UCU Canons after helping the side to a runners up medal in the 2019/20 season.

Omanye, formerly at KIU Titans, recently ended his stay at Warriors.

Azolibe who spent part of the previous season on clutches, joins from City Oilers.

Juuko, formerly at Oilers, signs from JKL where he didn’t play a single game after the league was canceled last season.

The duo join a list of other new signings that were confirmed last year before the league was canceled before tip off due to Covid19.

The other new additions include Geoffrey Soro, Syrus Kiviiri, Emmanuel Okumu, Daniel Manoja and Paul Odong among others.

“I was a free agent, Nam Blazers were very honesty and transparent, it was a good offer,” briefly said Azolibe who expressed his readiness to play after recovering from the injury.

Dikong commented: “Its a new experience for me, the team is new in the league but players have been a round for a while. we are going to work hard to see that we win.”

Omanye: “I am happy to be here, I think there are good structures here and we are ready to go, its a matter of sacrificing for each other.”

Juuko said: “Our goal is to win, you can’t have all these players and don’t expect to win. We have to stay positive. It takes a lot of hard work and commitment.”

The Blazers have retained Stephen ‘Escodata’ Nyeko as their coach and he has stated that his target is to take the side to the playoffs in their first attempt.

Club head of Operations Hajji Zinda Farouk confirmed Paul Odong as the club captain.

The National Basketball League will tentatively tip-off on April 2.
