Uncertaitanity Shrouds Sand Crane’s AFCON  Preps

The Uganda Sand Cranes’ preparations for their forthcoming Beach Soccer AFCON Qualifiers against West African powerhouse Ghana on March 27 is shrouded under uncertainty, literally.

A provisional squad of 20 players was summoned by head Coach Salim Muwonge a last week with Federation Of Uganda Football Association
earmarking March 8 as the date the Sand Cranes were supposed to enter residential camp at Njeru Technical Center.

However, with just ten days to the D-Day, the Sand Cranes haven’t started training business and ideally facing a gruelling race against time to be in good shape against Ghana.

The uncertain state of affairs has left Coach Salim Muwonge a concerned man.

“We had planned to use two weeks profitably but we have no option but to wait on what FUFA decides. We want to assess whether the team still understands our playing philosophy,” Muwonge told Daily Monitor.

Yet, their is hope that training will begin soon after FUFA revealed that the Beach Soccer pitch facility in Njeru is ready for use.
