The host for the 2021 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup has been named.
The Ethiopia Football Federation (EFF) has accepted to host the tourney, CECAFA website has revealed.
This was reached during a meeting held at the Sofitel Hotel in Rabat, Morocco on Thursday.
The tournament was held in Kampala in 2019 where hosts Uganda rana way winners when they beat Eritrea 3-0 courtesy of goals from Bright Anukani, Kizza Mustafa and Joel Madondo.
It returns to Ethiopia for the first time since 2015 when Uganda edged Rwanda, Caesar Okhuti goal, in the final.
The Cranes are record winners with 15 titles to their name.
This year’s CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in Ethiopia will be played as an Under-23 competition.
In related developments, Djibouti will host the CECAFA Senior Women’s Challenge.
Tanzania will stage the CECAFA Kagame Club Championship where KCCA FC are the defending champions.
Uganda will host the U-20 Women’s Challenge Cup and Kenya CAF Women’s Champions League Zonal Competition.
The competitions, beside U20 and U17 CECAFA, were not played last year due to Covid19.
All club and senior competitions will be played between June and August during league breaks.
