Everyone switched off after the early lead – Abdallah Mubiru

Police FC head Coach Abdallah Mubiru says his players switched off after getting the early lead against KCCA FC in league game played at Mtn Omondi stadium in Lugogo.

The two sides shared spoils in what is commonly known as the Lugogo derby settling for a 1-1 draw.

Muwadda Mawejje had given the Cops an early lead tapping in from close range but Sadat Anaku levelled matters in the second half.

Speaking after the game, Mubiru said his players switched off after getting the early goal in the game, reason as to why they never added a second.

“We got an early lead and then everyone switched off off in the rest of the game. He said.

“In the first half we performed a little bit better although we missed chances that could have won the game.

“If we were a serious competitor in today’s game, we could have scored like four goals by half time and probably it could give us an advantage in the second half.”

The Cops dominated the entire first half missing plenty of chances that could have killed off the game.

The Kasasiro boys later on dominated the second half with the Cops at the receiving end.

On this, Mubiru had this to say

“It is as a result of fatigue I don’t think this is how we played in the opening games of this season.

“We are hit by injuries and we have to wait on other players probably in the second round.

“However on the other hand we should say we were lucky because we could have conceded a second goal on anther day but that’s all due to our recklessness.”

Brian Mululi the league’s top scorer was brought off to make way for Henry Kisekka just before half time a decision that left many with questions.

On this Mubiru was quick to say the player has had to play many games which have left him fatigued.

“We had to put him off as early as that because he has a lot of fatigue as he has played a lot of games and we have been relying on him heavily.

“The way the league was organised, it is like we are playing a Gala because games come in fast so players can’t play to their best.”

The result sees Police stay in 5th spot with 25 points and will host Express FC on Tuesday in their next game.
