URA Beat Vipers To Storm League Summit

Saturday, March 13
URA FC 2-1 Vipers SC

URA FC earned a well deserved victory against Vipers in a league game played at Arena of Visions in Bombo.

The victory sees the Tax Collectors leapfrog Vipers to the top of the 16-team log.

Shafik Kagimu and Steven Mukwala scored for the hosts in a lunchtime kickoff game while Ceasar Manzoki halved the deficit.

Vipers had a penalty call in the 19th minute when Mandela Ashraf appeared to have handled in the area but referee William Oloya waved play on.

Sam Ssimbwa’s charges had got their first open chance in the 37th minute but goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora was at full stretch to deny Ivan Serubiri’s effort from a free kick.

Moments later, captain Kagimu got the opener for his side with a powerful shot in the area, after a school boy mistake from goal keeper Mutombora.

Mukwala doubled the lead at the hour mark with a powerful left-footed shot into the back of the net after Bobosi Byaruhanga’s poor clearance.

In the 73rd minute, Manzoki rose high to head home thanks to a good delivery from Disan Galiwango’s free kick.

The result sees URA go on top with 33 points as Vipers drop to second and remain on 30 points.
