We Targeted Second Spot At The Start Of The Season – Simbwa

URA FC head coach Sam Simbwa says his side’s season target was to finish second.

Simbwa made these remarks following a 2-1 victory over Vipers SC at the Arena of Visions on Saturday.

Captain Kagimu Shafiq and forward Steven Mukwala were on the score sheet for the Tax Collectors with Ceasar Manzoki scoring the other for the Visitors.

The victory took URA top of the table with 33 points, two points ahead of now-second placed Vipers after 14 games.

Speaking after the game, Simbwa was quick to acknowledge that the game was tough and competitive.

“The match was very tough very competitive because you could see how we started and how we ended.

“It was tight, everyone and each of the two teams wanted to win but the my players played according to the instructions and the outcome was what it was supposed to be.”

In the last two games against Police FC and Vipers Sc, the Simbwa coached side has had unchanged starting team for the first time this season.

On this, Simbwa says the selection depends on trainings before adding that players still played well.

“We usually pick our team according to trainings.

“We played well, we won and they (players) still played well and they all came so there was no need of changing.”

The Tax Collectors face Onduparaka away from home in their last game of the first round, one which Simbwa says it will be like a final for them as things have now changed after hoping for second spot at the start of the season.

“This is our last game and it is going to be a final on our side.

“Our target was to be number two but now God has made it easier for us we are at the top.

“We have to keep that and by doing that, it means we have to beat Onduparaka our next opponent.”

URA have overcome a relatively slow start to the season and are the only side to win 10 games so far.
