Preview: SC Villa Seek To end First Round On High

SC Villa take a short trip to Kavumba to face hosts Bright Stars in a league game on Wednesday.

The Jogoos returned to winning ways after needing a late Nicholas Kabonge strike to overcome Onduparaka on Sunday in Bombo.

It is reported that the players have been paid some arrears after going over seven months without pay, and will surely be extra motivated to deliver.

“Bright Stars are not a team to undermine because of their position on the table but rather a group to take caution of because of their style of play. My technical team and I are well aware of the threat Bright Stars pose and for that case, we have done our homework well,” said Villa coach Edward Kaziba.

“We will push for early goals and in the same spirit defend them very well in order to come out with the win. It is not good being on the edge for the whole 90 minutes.”

A win will set Villa level on points with fifth placed Police and UPDF.

Their opponents Bright Stars on the other hand, come into this one on the back of a 1-0 away win over Mbarara City, thanks to Joseph Akandwanaho.

Coach Baker Mbowa’s side will move to 20 points with a win, and end the first round inside the top half of the table.

They have proved to be a difficult side to breakdown and can hurt anyone going forward, it promises to be an even contest on paper.

The match will be played behind closed doors.
