Just after he was officially announced at Mbarara City FC, Charles Livingston Mbabazi has set targets to see the Ankole Lions return back to glory days.
Mbabazi was named on Tuesday as the head coach of the Ankole Lions after he was sacked by Kyetume FC earlier this month.
Speaking to the club media, Mbabazi thanked everyone who ensured the deal was completed.
“I thank the Club president, management and the fans for making this deal Possible for me to come back home. He noted.
Mbabazi Who will be taking charge of the Ankole Lions for the first time since May 2019.
The Ankole Lions are currently 12th on the UPL standings with 13 points prior to their final first round game against BUL FC at Kakyeka stadium on Wednesday.
He says that staying in the league is their target for now.
“Our main target as the technical team is to make sure the team stays in the league and we prepare for the next season.
“Its all about the players to give their all in each and every game we are to play so as to maintain our top flight league status.
“I urge all fans to always support and cheer the players whenever they are in the lead or behind.
“We call upon all fans that shall make it to the stadium and those that won’t for our game against BUL to cheer the Lions from kick off whistle until final whistle.”
Mbabazi took over the helm at Mbarara city from Brian Ssenyondo and will be deputized by Sadick Ssempigi who has been acting as the caretaker lately.
Recently Ibrahim Kirya, Viali Bainomugisha, Brian Ssenyondo and Richard Makumbi have been at the helm of Mabarara city FC since 2017 when the side re-joined the top flight after defeating Syngery in the FUFA big league play offs.
