Golf: Much At Stake Ahead Of Lady Captain’s Prize Tourney

The Brief:
*Event: 2021 Lady Captain’s Prize Tournament
*Date: Saturday, March 20
*Venue: Uganda Golf Club, Kampala
*Format of play: Stableford

All is set for this year’s Lady Captain’s Prize golf tournament that tees off on Saturday at the par 72 Uganda Golf Club in Kitante, Kampala.

This will be the 30th edition after last year’s tournament was called off due to Covid19 that resulted into a ban on public gatherings hence a national lockdown.

During a press launch on Thursday, it was confirmed that 197 golfers had so far registered and organisers anticipate the total to go up to 210.

The tourney is open to members and guests in terms of eligibility.

The mode of play will be the Stableford format, where, unlike the usual counting of total number of strokes taken per play, players will be scored based on the number of strokes taken at each hole.

Officials during the press launch

Past Lady Captain Anne Abeja commanded the sponsors, before adding: “This Tournament is one of the most significant ones on the Ladies section golf calendar because it marks the end/beginning of term of office of the Lady Captain and her committee.

“March is a special month for women due to the fact the International women’s day is commemorated on March 8 worldwide, this year the theme was #ChooseTochallenge which has generated quite a bit of excitement in terms of what it means to the ordinary woman.

“To me it means celebration of achievement both individual and for other women, pushing boundaries and challenging myself, being bold and being heard at the table I share with my fellow women and our male counterparts, who are partners in the journey of life.”

Top players in the Ladies Groups A-C and the subsidiary Men’s Groups A-C, will win prizes including cash, on top of other side bets.
