Sand Cranes Reach Afcon Beach Soccer Finals Without Breaking Sweat

Ugandan National beach Soccer team, the Sand Cranes have qualified for the 2020 AFCON Beach Soccer tournament to be hosted by Senegal without breaking any sweat.

The development comes after Uganda’s qualification hurdle where they had to overcome Ghana has been cleared with the latter opting to withdraw from the qualification campaign.

It’s means that other factors permitting, Uganda will make it’s debut at the biennial tournament.

The reasons for Ghana’s withdrawal are still unknown at a time of writing.

The two teams were due to face-off in a two legged affair with Uganda hosting Ghana first on March 27th in Njeru.

However, Ghana’s withdrawal comes as a respite to Uganda whose preparations appeared to be in disarray of sorts.

The Salim Muwonge coached side entered residential camp at the beginning of this week under mundane circumstances.

Eleven out of the twenty summoned players resumed training at Njeru while Coach Charles Ayieko didn’t join camp after he flatly decline the role of Fitness coach.

The two events coming at the back of each other had dulled Uganda’s preparations.
