Police To Play Next Home Game Behind Closed Doors

Police FC will play their first second round-home game of the Uganda Premier League behind closed doors after they were punished for breach of Covid regulations.

Authorities accuse the management of the club of allowing spectators into the stadium for their home game against Express on March 16, 2021 at the MTN-Omondi facility, Lugogo without written authorization from FUFA.

“And most of the fans were seen not wearing face masks,” reads in part a circular from the Competitions Disciplinary Panel.

Article 10 of the FUFA COVID-19 Regulations establishes that, “All matches shall be played without spectators,” and that “fans shall only be allowed with written permission from FUFA.”

The Fufa Competitions Disciplinary Panel noted that Police had been previously cautioned, and that it was time now for a sterner decision.

The Competitions Disciplinary Panel therefore sanctioned Police for violation of the FUFA COVID-19 regulations with one match under closed stadium for the next home game which will be against UPDF FC on April 03.
