Candidate National Team Players To Seat Exams Next Year

The ministry of Education and Sports has reaveled that football players who missed their Ugandan Certificate of Education ( Papers) exams will write their exams next year.

Certain players, candidates at that, at the U-20 and U-17 national teams didn’t not sit for their papers because of national team assignments.

The issue sparked off wide spread pleas from concerned parents and school administrators of the affected students that the Ministry Of Education and Sports had to get an amicable solution on the matter.

Whilst State minister for Higher Education Dr.John Chrysestom Muyingo has said that there will be no special papers for the affected students this year.

However, the youngsters will have a second bite on a cherry next year.

“Government has arranged for the seven students to sit for exams next year, they shouldn’t lose hope but continue to prepare for the exams, “said Muyingo.

Those who missed final exams include son to Musician Moses Ssali aka Bebe Cool Alpha “Thierry” Ssali who was part of the Hippos squad while Travis Mutyaba ( St Mary’s Kitende), Oscar Mawa ( Gombe High School), Ivan Irinimbabazi ( Royal Giants High School) and Elvis Mwanje ( Masaka SS) were with the U-17 national team.

The UCE exams started on March 1 and will culminate on March 30.

Muyingo added that , “since the football team was already in Mauritania UNEB can’t arrange special exams, supervisors and the examination centres because they’re from different schools, it will jeopardize the UNEB time table for exams”, Muyingo narrated.

The Uganda Hippos finished runners up at the U-20 Afcon tournament while the U-17 Cubs didn’t play in Afcon U-17 because the tournament was called-off due to Covid-19.
