AFCON Qualifiers: Mo Salah Back In Egypt Fold After Two Years

Egypt striker Mohamed Salah is back in the Pharaohs fold after a two-year absence as the side prepares for Total Africa Cup of Nations Qualifications Group G matches.

Egypt face Kenya in Nairobi and Comoros on March 25 and March 29 respectively.

The Liverpool striker last played for Egypt in the 2019 AFCON in July where he scored just two goals, including one against Uganda Cranes but his side lost at home to South Africa in the quarterfinals.

He has turned down a couple of calls and has been a big critic of the Egypt Football Association (EFA) and recently revealed his grievances over the association over players welfare.

He has been in terrific form at club level; scoring 17 goals and is the joint leading goalscorer of the Premier League season with Harry Kane of Tottenham.

However, his Liverpool side is 7th, 25 points below leaders Man City.

Egypt, who have won the AFCON title a record seven times (1957, 1959, 1986, 1998, 2006, 2008 and 2010) are top of Group B with eight points, Comoros has eight as well while Kenya and Togo have three and one point in that order.
