My Target Is To Be Among KPL Top Scorers This Season – Kasumba

Ugandan Striker Umaru Kasumba is harbouring lofty targets days after pulling off a grand return to Kenya’s top tier league.

The Former SC Villa and Police FC forward signed for Bandari FC in a cagey deal whose duration remained undisclosed to the public.

The move marked Kasumba’s return to the familiar confines of Kenyan football where he last featured for Sofapaka in the 2018.

The foresaid season saw the Ugandan towering forward notch 17 respectable goals to emerge joint top scorer alongside Ulinzi’s Enosh Ochieng and Kakamega Homeboyz’s Allan Wanga.

Whilst, with all due respect, Kasumba has a right to divluge into toping scoring chats in Kenya.

“I can’t dream of being the league’s top scorer now because we only have one match before the end of the first leg. So my aim this season is to finish among the top five scorers,” Said Kasumba.

Bandri Coach Casa Mbungo handed the forward his debut during their nail-biting league match against Wazito at Utalii grounds over the weekend. Kasumba rose from the bench to help his teammates squeeze out a crucial away point in a 2-all draw.

Kasumba reckons that he will require some time to acclimatize to the Kenyan climate again following a two year stint away.

“Honestly, the weather had an adverse effect on my performance when I featured in my first match (Bandri Vs. Wazito). You can imagine having landed from Zambia only recently and before I could hardly settle we had a game in Nairobi.” Kasumba added.

Kasumba is set to join forces with Ugandan compatriot William Wadri who is enjoying his football with Bandari FC.

Wadri was named the best player for the month of February in the KPL.
