The Uganda National Netball team, She Cranes kick-start their quest for honours at the SPAR Challenge Tri-nation series with a mouth-watering duel against hosts South Africa at Cape Town international convention centre on Thursday.

Three of Africa’s top Netball Nations South Africa, Uganda and Namibia are to tussle it out at the tournament with the outcomes having far-reaching consequences on participating Nations.

It’s the reason as to why the spotlight is shinning brighter on 5th placed South Africa and 7th placed Uganda as per international Netball world rankings.

Much is at stake with improving in World rankings while their is also a juicy reward of qualifying for next year’s Common Wealth games.

Notably, South Africa has been earmarked as 2023 Netball World Cup hosts.

“We are excited to take part in this tournament. She Cranes Coach Rashid Mubiru stated.

“We are ready to fight for everything as it will help us improve on the rankings and also qualify for the Common Wealth games.”

In the absence of stalwats Peace Procovia and Mary Nuba, Stella Oyella is to captain the She Cranes team that is riddled with many novices.

South Africa is Uganda’s Bogey side

However, Coach Rashid Mubiru’s team have to overcome the debilitating malaise that comes up when they square up with South Africa.

Uganda has lost four of their recent games against South Africa.

The She Cranes lost 50-40 and 67-40 against Spar Proteas in the 2015 and 2019 World Cups.
