Luzira based side Maroons FC opened there FUFA Big League account on high with 3-1 triumph over Paidha Black Angels at Luzira prisons ground.
The game started with high intensity as both teams were looking for the opener early.
The hosts broke the deadlock in the 27th minutes after Emmanuel Olinga scored but the ball looked to have come off his hand instead of the head but it stood.
Paidha midfield looked lost as they were dominated by their counterparts as the hosts were aiming to double their lead.
In the 79th minutes, Opio Belmos doubled the home team’s lead with a header to beat Oyirwoth Jonathan the Paidha goalkeeper.
Paidha Black Angels striker Nsubuga Jackson hit the post after beating the offside trap as they went all out for a consolation.
Amaku Fred sealed it for Maroons after a miscommunication from skipper Bithum Francis and his goalkeeper, enabling the striker to poke home from close range.
In the final exchanges, pulled one back from the spot after Nsubuga Jackson was brought down in the box and one of the club’s longest serving and experienced defenders, Odagiu Khalid didn’t make any mistake from 12-yards.
What next for both teams
Maroons will face Gaddafi FC at Kyabazinga Stadium on Sunday 28th March while Paidha host Mbale Heroes on the same day.
