SPAR Challenge: She Cranes Completes Sweep Of Namibia

Uganda beat Namibia 57- 27 in the final game of day 5 at the SPAR Challenges Tri-Nation Series in Cape town.

The She Cranes made it 3 wins in as many ties against Namibia in this Series.

They had earlier taken care of the Desert Jewel 59-30 and 49-28 on Sunday and Friday respectively.

Rashid Mubiru’s side took early control of the proceedings, opening up 5-1 lead, before making use of turnover balls to score another 12 goals in a row to make it 17-1, eventually ending the quarter 18-3 on top.

The Desert Jewels showed some improvement at the start of the 2nd quarter when they scored 3 in a row but it wasn’t enough to match up the fired-up She Cranes who won the quarter to end first half at 31-9.

The reintroduction of Kaspar Anna back at GS worked for the Namibians but the She Cranes defence kept Uganda in charge as they made sure that they take the 3rd and go into the final quarter 45-16 up.

In the final quarter, the Namibians put up a good fight, applying more pressure, however Ugandan tried not to give away possession that easily as the still won the quarter by 12-11 to take the match 57-27.

Shaffie Nalwanja who started in Goal Keeping position and later switched to Wing Defense was voted player of the match after tremendous blocks and brilliant interception.

A win has seen She Cranes close the gap on leaders South Africa (8) to 2 points and both sides will face off in the last match of the Series on Wednesday after She Cranes’ day off tomorrow.

The Namibians who are yet to register any wins, come back in action on Tuesday to face off South Africa who had a resting day today.
