Preview: All Eyes On Morley Byekwaso

KCCA FC will be without head coach Mike Mutebi for the first time since 2015. The gaffer parted ways with the club last week and has been replaced by his assistant Morley Byekwaso.

Under his stewardship, KCCA FC has won three league titles, two Uganda Cups, four super Cups, one CECAFA Cup but above all, he took the club to the group stage of CAF Champions League. No body can beat that.

His departure has been met with mixed emotions but it remains to be seen weather Byekwaso is the right man for the job.

Liked by the media and a section of fans, Byekwaso will be hoping to get off to a flyer.

The CAF A licensed coach has been at the club since 2016 when he came to replace Sam Ssimbwa and has been overshadowed by Mutebi.

He has coached at Simba and Victoria University, however, he set a bar high when he lead Uganda Hippos to the final of the AFCON U20 tournament.

With the club currently in sixth, Byekwaso will be hoping to guide his side to a league title, after they lost to Vipers last season.

The dream starts with a tricky home fixture against BUL, one of the four teams to have beaten KCCA in the first round.

Then, Charles Lwanga’s goal was just a consolation and Brian Aheebwa missed a penalty as goals from Musa Esenu and Robert Mukongotya handed BUL a shock win.
