Preview: Can Kyetume Keep Out Police?

Police FC can replace SC Villa in fifth if they beat Kyetume FC on Saturday at FUFA Technical centre in Njeru, courtesy of their goal difference.

Many things have not gone right for Police despite being many people’s favourites for the title chase thanks to their busy transfer window.

However, they have remained in contention thanks to their ability to put the ball at the back of the net. With 29 goals, they are only bettered by KCCA (41) and Vipers (36) who have played a game each.

Brian Mululi (8), Ben Ocen (6) and Johnson Odong (5) have led the attacking line brilliantly.

They face a Kyetume side that has not kept a clean sheet in their last five home games.

This promises to be a one-sided affair but Kyetume FC will have to put up a contest if they are to keep their chances to stay in UPL alive.

This will be the fourth meeting in top flight between the two sides.

Johnson Odong, Muwadda Mawejje and Brain Mulili netted for the Cops on a rainy and wet afternoon at Lugogo while Baker Buyala’s goal was just a consolation as Police won 3-1 in the reverse fixture in the first round.

Last season, Police won 1-0 both home and away – Ben Ocen struck at Namboole while Herman Wasswa scored a late penalty at Lugogo.

The Stats:

*Kyetume FC

  • The Slaughters sit 14th with 12 points having won twice, drawn six and lost seven
  • They have gone 10 games without a win since they beat BUL last year in December.

*Police FC

  • The Kops are sixth with 25 points; their record stand at seven wins, four draws and as many losses.
  • They are winless in their last four league games having ended the first round with a 1-0 loss to Express.
  • They have drawn their last three away games in a row
