Brian Ssali goal gave Ndejje University a first leg advantage over SC Villa at Bombo Barracks Military Stadium.
Despite the visitors being reduced to 10 men after Midfielder Nicholas Luziige was sent off in the 65 minutes, they held on to register victory on the day..
Ndejje University looked the dominant side as they were pushing for the opener in the early exchanges.
They came close but striker Onek Adolfu’s tame shot was saved by goalkeeper Saidi Keni.
There was limited opportunity created by both sides as their defenders were equal to the task but Ndejje University outplayed SC Villa in the first half.
In the 38 minutes winger Brian Ssali gave the visitors a deserved lead, heading in Akena Geoffrey’s cross at the far post.
Luziige got a golden opportunity to make it 2-0 but his lobbed effort could only sail over while one-on-one with Keni.
The big league side came close again at the start of second half but Keni made a good save to Deny Onek poking in from close range.
SC Villa tried to push for an equaliser but the visitors defence was firm.
Amir Kakomo’s shot from outside the box was charged down by defender Owiny Ronald.
In the 65 Minutes, Luziige was shown red by referee Ali Sabira after blocking Derrick Ndahiro to earn himself a second yellow card.
Gavin Kizito came close to levelling matters at the death but his header, while unmarked, went wide.
Both side meet again on Sunday 11th April at Arena of Vision in Ndejje for the second leg of the tie.
