URA FC and Mbarara City FC played a goalless draw in an all top flight affair of the first leg of round of 32 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup at Arena of Vision Ndejje.

It was an end-to-end affair but neither side could break the deadlock.

The hosts dominated the first 25 minutes of play but thanks to goalkeeper Elungat Martin who was handed his full debut and his entire backline who had answers to both Steven Mukwala and Cromwell Rwothomio questions.

At the half hour mark, the Ankole Lions almost went ahead through Ivan Eyam’s effort which hit the cross bar.

URA FC, in the 65th minute, were denied by Elangat who kept out Mukwala’s header before substitute Ibrahim Dada saw his shot rattle the crossbar.

The pressure forced Ssimbwa to make a double substitution with Brian Nkuumbi and Joachim Ojera paving way for Moses Seruyidde, the latter, saw his volley hit the woodwork.

Earlier on, the visitors also missed chances through Henry Kitegenyi and Ibrahim Magandanzi.

URA who last won the tittle in 2014 will visit Mbarara for the second leg in Kakyeka.
