Uganda Cricket Cranes lost their T20I Castle Lite series against Namibia 3-0 at Wanderers Cricket ground.

Laurence Mahatlane’s charges will seek solace in the upcoming two-game over-50 series against the same opponents on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Cranes lost the first game of the T20 on April 3 by seven wickets before a doubleheader on Easter Monday.

Uganda put themselves in a good position when they restricted Namibia to 134/6 in the morning game, thanks to huge contributions from Riazat Ali Sha 3-23.

Uganda’s chase could however take a wrong turn when they gave away four wickets from as many overs, with none of Arnold Otwani, Roger Mukasa, Saud Islam and Dinesh Nakrani managing to walk off with double digit runs.

With the fortunes swinging in Namibia’s favour, rain delayed proceedings with Uganda at 65/5 in 12.4 overs.

The Cranes could later fall by 20 runs after Duckworth–Lewis–Stern method.

In the last match of the series, Craig Williams proved a handful for Uganda’s attack as he hit a quick 81 off 49 balls before he was caught by Waiswa.

Namibia got 46 runs in the last three overs on their way to a lofty 189/3.

Uganda’s batting was characterized with naivety and the side needed 75 runs in the last over, before settling for 124 and eventually lose by 65 runs and the series 3-0.

Captain Arnold Otwani hit 21 before he was stamped behind, Riazat Ali Sha was run out with 33 and Uganda couldn’t mount a comeback.

The loss reveals more work for Laurence Mahatlane ahead of the 2022 T20 World Cup Qualifiers and the coming ICC World Cricket Challenge League B in September in Jersey.
